No actor wants to end up on the cutting room floor. That term was used when actual film was edited and unwanted scenes literally ended up on the floor or in the garbage can.
Many films today, including Table 47, are shot on video and edited with computer software so the floor stays clean.
On Table 47 we had a good idea of the scenes we needed. Still, there were some that we ended up not using for various reasons. Most of the unused scenes would have consumed time without adding to the story or enjoyment of the movie.
Still, for actors it’s not easy to learn they didn’t make the final cut. They showed up on time, brought their best to each take and have nothing to show for it. We did put those who ended up on the “cutting room floor” in the credits to thank them for their effort.
